Tonkatsu

Tonkatsu is a pork cutlet that has been breaded and deep-fried. Think of a p0rk version of the Wiener schnitzel, which hasn’t been tenderized (i.e. pounded flat). Also, the Japanese panko crumbs tend to be larger, creating a thicker “crust”. tonkatsu-plain-01 It is served with a special Tonkatsu sauce, comparable to a slightly richer version what the Japanese refer to as generic “sauce” (like a sweeter Worcestershire sauce) tonkatsu-sauce
